Not sure why, but I felt like sketching out Mushu from Mulan...Oh, and I am posting this on Friday morning even though I drew it yesterday. We were having internet problems at home last night and I couldn't get it posted...
My plan is to post one Disney-related doole a day for a year. Doodles are something I do to relieve stress and when I am performing some tedious task. I am in no way an artist and won't have professional quality sketches, but I enjoy it just the same.

The Great Mouse Detective...underrated Disney Classic
Today a co-worker went around saying "Elementary, my dear Watson" every time he was asked a question...kind of annoying, but I started thinking about what I think is Disney's first "modern classic". It is often oversahdowed by The Little Mermaid since it was released only 3 years prior to TLM. It's a great story, the animation adds to the feeling of the time period of the movie and it is a little more sophisticated humor for the parallels between the movie and Sherlock Holmes. Anyway - here's my interpretation of Basil of Baker Street aka the Great Mouse Detective...

Continuing with classic Disney characters - Daisy
Goofy from yesterday led me to draw Daisy today. I hurried through Daisy and it shows. I am not really happy with how she turned out but am traveling and can't take the time I would lke to take.

Kinda "Goofy" today
Today was one of those days when everything just seemed to be a comedy of errors...much like Goofy's life experiences...I took a little more time drawing this and am happy with it overall. I still see some problem areas, but not a bad attempt...

Wise Old Owl
Sunday affords me a little more free time so I did a drawing of Owl, one of my favorite Winnie the Pooh characters (the other being Rabbit). I outlined it with a black felt tip pen and it turned out OK...I still see some areas for improvement.

Hercules - Baddest of the bad villian
My daughter is reading the Percy Jackson books which is chock full of Greek mythology. I had to try to draw one of my favorite Disney villians...also from Greek Mythology...Hades from Hercules...

Genie from Aladdin
Some co-workers were talking about Halloween costumes for their kids today. One of them said her little boy wants to be the Genie from Aladdin....blue paint and all.

I need a caffeine patch...
Caught part of Meet the Robinsons on TV tonight. This, to me, is one of the underrated Disney movies. I like the story and I like the animation. I think this movie suffers from being compared to Pixar movies as this was Disney's attempt at 3-D CGI animation when it appeared they would be no longer collaborating with Pixar. I spent a cold, dreary day at home and couldn't seem to get enough sleep. Dr. Krunklehorn's caffeine patch (from Meet the Robinsons) would definitely be a plus for me today.

Toy Story 3 releasing on DVD on November 2
Saw a post about the release of Toy Story 3 on DVD on November 2. Excellent movie and definitely one I want to add to my DVD collection.

Stitch's clone and how I wish he had a great escape
It has been one of those days at work...a coworker brought her 4 year old to work today and he terrorized the place like Stitch terrorized Hawaii. I really wasn't feeling in a doodle kind of mood, but forced myself to quickly sketch something...This isn't the best Stitch drawing, but close enough for me for today.

Video conference call with a "raccoonish" attendee
I had a video conference call with a group of people. One of the people looked very much like a raccoon. A quick Google search brought up a Mike Royer production cell of a raccoon drawn for a scene from some Winnie the Pooh. Mike Royer is well known as a prominent designer of modern Pooh characters.

Disney Mice vs. Reality Show Mice
Today I was watching a cable show called "The Colony" and saw the largest mouse I have ever seen...no where near as cute as those little critters from Cinderella. Cinderella was my daughter's favorite Disney movie...we watched it until I had memorized all the dialogue. Anyway, I did a rough sketch of Gus from Cinderella...like I said...much, much cuter than the thing they showed on The Colony.

Gloomy kind of Eeyore day and redecorating our daughter's room
Today has been an overall gloomy kind of day...no real sunshine to speak of, drab shades of gray and the onset of Fall. We are also in the process of redecorating our daughter's room. She is a huge Eeyore fan and literally has hundreds of stuffed Eeyores in various sizes collected throughout the years. The gray day outside and moving those stuffed animals had me thinking about Pooh's rather gloomy friend...here is the result...

Continuation of yesterday's post regarding Chip and Dale:Rescue Rangers possible movie
It has been really hectic at work this morning, but I did manage to scratch out Chip to compliment yesterday's Dale...it could be better. I tried to draw him complete with his Ranger "Indy Jones" type explorer hat and the fur collar of his bomber jacket...kinda looks like a pimped out squirrel to me, but don't think I will have a chance to do anything else today. Ignore the "15299" written near his head. This is my desk calendar at work and I am sure those numbers meant something when I jotted them down...

A rumored Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers movie might be in the works
Loved watching Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers cartoon with my daughter and was excited when I came across an article on a message board I frequent discussing a possible upcoming movie showing where the characters are now...kind of a follow-up to the series. Could be great if handled properly...anyway, this inspired me to doodle Dale peeking out from behind one of the day boxes on my desk calendar... The first doodle is Dale in pen and the second is the same doodle shaded with pencil...
